- Launch at Takapuna, cruise around the back of Rangitoto over to Onetangi beach, Waiheke Island (there is a cafe or two there), come back around the front of Rangitoto.

- Launch at Hatfields beach, just north of Orewa, cruise out to Mansion House Bay, Kawau Island (there is a cafe there), and back.
Boat ramp at Hatfields beach was no good, weather was not great so we didnt make it to Kawau. We went for a ride up to Walkworth, was a really nice ride. Photos here. |

- Launch at Westhaven marina in the city, cruise around Rangitoto Island.

Waikato River, Tuakau.
Launching site for Tuakau. It has a wide concrete ramp into the river along with ample parking. Just be wary of where the river flows and try to follow what appears to be the main flow otherwise it can get a little shallow in places.
The entrance into the launching area (and small picnic area) is off River Road. |
